(DINGER OF OUTBREAK IN MELBOURNE.
HEALTH AUTHORITIES TAKING PRECAUTIONS.

Received May 12, 9.10 p.m. MELBOURNE, May 12The Melbourne City Council discussed tho prevalence of iniantilo paralysis in and about Melbourne. _ It w/as urged, in view of New Zealand’s experience, that they should prepare for an emergency. Dr. Hughes stated that average number of cases in _ the Cnildren s Hospital previously did not exceed three. This year there Rad been twentv-two, with five deaths. There were at least two other deaths outside, and one doctor was caring for eleven eases. The Council -decided to form a standby organisation, in the event of it being needed. A conference of health officers is being held to discuss the position.
