Lord Milner. A cable message from London states that Lord Milner was slightly better yesterday morning, but still in a very serious condition. Mr Bernard Tripp left for the north yesterday. Mr N. M. Orbell left Timaru for the north by yesterday’s first express. Mr William Evans returned from the north by yesterday’s second express. Mr J. Emslie was a passenger for the north by yesterday’s second express. Constable McErlane, who has been stationed in Tinyaru for some considerable time, has resigned from the force, and is entering business on his own account.

The death is ,announced of the Rev. Robert Fairmaid (65), Presbyterian minister, whose last charge, prior to retirement on account of ill health, was South Dunedin. The death is announced from Auckland of Mr Edward Frederick Chandler, founder of the advertising firm of Messrs Chandler Ltd. He was born in Chicago 65 years ago. He was a man of outstanding, personality, pud spent his whole life in the advertising business.
