CRICKET COACH’S EXTRAVAGANCE.

CAPTAIN BADCOCK’S TROUBLES

By Ttlegraph—Prom Amoclatlon,

WELLINGTON, May 7

The result of the examination of Captain It. T. Badcock, the cricketing coach, recently brought out by the Wellington Association, was rather surprising. Unsecured creditors were shown at £4bß, and there, wore no assets. These debts, the Assignee said, Wore all incurred in two months, and many of them were of an extravagant nature. Bankrupt had bought most expensive clothes, and such .things as mall jong sets, cocktail shakers, and a gramophone. The latter, it w.a.3 suggested, ho had attempted to sell, though it was secured on time payments, but this Badcock denied. In his statement ho • admitted being foolish, and not appreciating the value of money, but his salary, £250 per year, was small, and lie understood the Cricket Association was to find him some part time employment. They had not done so, nor had he been able to obtain any himsolf. He also anticipated receiving some assistance from his father, but was disappointed.. During the examination it appeared that there were other claims coming in from England, and'bankrupt also admitted haying raised a. number of small loans privately, which ho had not declared in his statement.

The Official Assignee was instructed to place the case in the hands of the Crown Prosecutor.
