. House Committee's Report. — The report of the House Committee for the past month was read. It stated" During the past month the porch to the female ward has been erected at a cost of £9 os Id. Its erection has added considerably both to the appearance and comfort of the building. It is very desirable that it should be painted. With regard to the new cooking apparatus, we recommend the purchase of a Leamington range, as per plan furnished. It is estimated that the cost, including fittings, utensils, and brickwork, will be about £30."—Mr Eenshaw and Mr Sims wished that the House Committee should have leave to get a larger boiler than the one in the oven they had looked at, so as to be able to have 30 gallons instead of 20 gallons of warm water, a large quantity of warm water being frequently necessary in the Hospital. A good deal of conversation took place on the point.—■ Mr Mcllhone thought it would be best to leave the mitter over till next month, when the committee could come to a definite opinion, and then they could call for tenders. They ought to bo careful in going into so large an expenditure as this. He moved a resolution to that effect.—Mr Sims said he did not know where they could get a better opinion than the persons engaged .in the Hospital. —Mr Macnab seconded Mr Mcllbone's motion.—Mr said the matter had been several times referred to the committee. The cooking apparatus to the Hospital was a disgrace to it. He did not see the use of referring the matter back again to the House Committee. The House Committee had no desire to squander the funds of the Hospital, but they wished ,to,'put the Hospital in a workable condition.—Mr Bagnall also pointed out the necessity for the subject being dealt with at onco. It had been delayed too long. Jle moved that the committee's report be adopted, and that tho committee be empowered to purchase the necessary cooking apparatus.—Mr Gudgeon seconded Mr Bagnall's amendment.—The amendment was carried, on a division.

Collections had been made during the past year in aid of the mission, in 1,099 churches and chapels in connection with tile Scotch Kirk, resulting in the receipt from this source of £3,726, or au average of sometiling under £3 10s per church or chapel; certainly, a most munificent sum, and which ought to have ensured the various donow, if they had only been Roman Catholics, aljs .lufciou for life." In again referring to the subject, the same journalremarks" j U corroboration of tho remarks we made in our last impression on the attempts of the Free Assembly of the Scotch Kirk to convert the Jews— that the amount spent by the Conversion Committee last year, with the above mentioned object could have been better ' applied to the Conversion of certain Scotch heathens froni-let us say—tho habit of Sunday tippling to tho Jewish virtue of sobriety,' we may slate on the authority of the I'M Mali Gazette, that no less thm four Scotch Clergymen have already been expelled from the ministry by tho General Assembly of tho- Church of Scotland, since the commencement of iti sitting, for drunkenness and disorderly conduct."
