(Per Anglo-Australian Telegraph Press.Agency.)

Auckland, Monday, 7.30 p.m.

The charge of the Chief Justice to the Grand Jury was ckieily occupied with an uninteresting direction regarding the cases for trial. He congratulated the jury on the fact of only ten cases being on the calendar. He lamented the charge of murder, and the preponderance of offences against the person. There were few cases demanding auy special direction from the Court. There were five offences against property, of these two were committed by persons not belonging to the regular body of settlers, and the circumstances of the other three did not warrant the conclusion that there was any tendency to crime among the settlers.
