THAMES SCOTTISH PRIZE FIRING.

This company competed at the new rifle range on Saturday afternoon, for the medal presented by Captain Murray, two handsome cakes, a bag of flour, and sis money prizes. One cake was given by Vol, Forgie to the married man making the highest score, the other by Messrs Mennie and Dey to the highest scorer amongst the bachelors. The bag of flour was the gift of Mr Jidwin Binncy. The score of the married competitors came in for the useful prize of a Maw's feeding bottle, while the lowest amongst the bachelors received a medal made expressly for the occasion (gingerbread). Twenty-six competitors put in an appearance, and although Campbell, Littlejohn, Carpenter, and some others of the old shots were unable to be present, the subjoined scores of the prize winners, l will show that some good shooting was made, the ten highest averaging nearly 41 points. The ranges were 300, 400, and 500 yards. 5 shots, each, and no sighting shot. The highest aggregate in Saturday's match and another to come off at an early date at 200, 500, and 600 yards, will be the winner of a suit of clothes, to be the gift of and made to order by Volunteer John Muir, the company's tailor. We observe well up on the prize list the name of Volunteef Downie, who came in second in the match on the opening day, and though a young shot, we prophecy he will leave his mark on this seasou's shooting. Major Cooper superintended the tiring, and Sergeants Jletnp and Morrison of No. 2 Company tf.R.V,, acted as markers. Sergeant Girvan takes the medal for the month, and will require to win it again twice ore it becomes his property. The only competitor who has yet won it twice is Lieutenant Dey. The very handsome medal presented by the latter gentleman, and previously described by us, will not be fired for until the new Sniders are received.

. A financial and business meeting of the company was held in the evening, Oapt. Murray in the chair, at which the annual statement of receipts and expenditure was read. Notwithstanding tho heavy calls on the funds of the corps during tho .past year, the accounts showed all liabilities paid, and a respectable balance in hand. The Chairman drew the company's attention to the large number of honorary members on the books who had contributed to tho funds, and who.in many instances had been annual subscribers since the formation of the corps. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to the Treasurer and Secretary for the efficiency shown in discharge of their duties. Vol. Hume was elected treasurer, and Vols. Somerville and Littlejohn auditors. A finance and clothing committee was also appointed in accordance with the rules. Senior Sergeant John Girvan was unanimously elected colour-sergeant. Some other business of a routine character was satisfactorily disposed of, and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to tho chair.
