Mr Ellis, shipping reporter of the Cross, has been appointed purser. The- Union Beach have obtained some pounds of rich specimens to-day, about 25 feet ahead of the winze. The leader s is.lobking well.—The Eoyal Oak have got about 201bs of picked stone to-day.—The leader is continuing of good size, and showing gold in the face.—Excelsior tribute, llozs 15dwts melted gold from two tons of stuff.—Whakaroa not retorted yet.—Good stone has been obtained from' the '' new' leader' in 'the : Pacific.-' "The Good Templars' entertainment is now being held; it is a great success.';
Taubanga, Thursday. The visit of the Governor and suite will be remembered here by some hotel proprietors who are losers by it. ■ Captain Mair,-of the Native Contingent,'has become the special of a local paper, giving flattering reports of. the vice-regal progress through the lake country, but refusing to report the lamentations of the Maoris at not receiving the usual greetings accorded by illustrious visitors.— The Grand Lodge of .'Auckland Templars are desirous of palming a Maori lodge on Taurabga, to whioh the Templars here decidedly object. The Maori mind is being prepared to receive the Templars' ritual. John C. Young has started to-day for Eotorua, to establish a native teetotal association amongst the Arawas.
