CHINESE RAIDED.

NAPIER, Feb. 1.
The Police last night raided the premises of a Chinese fruiterer named Lim Hoy, in Hastings Street, and arrested sixteen out of seventeen Celestials either engaged in playing fan tan or in watching the progress of the game. Elaborate precautions were taken by the police, to secure a cornescaped capture. The raid was effected just at the. people were leaving the churches, and the unusual sight of sixteen Chinese marching to the station attracted a large crowd.
