THE CHRISTCHURCH REGATTA.

CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 31.

The Christchurch regatta eventuated on Saturday at Lake Forsyth, Little River, in splendid weather. Tho lake was somewhat rough in the centre, and one of the Canterbury Club's boats in tho senior pairs was swamped. Results : —

Senior. Fours, two miles — Union 1, Canterbury 2, Star 3: The only starters. Canterbury led for the' first half- ! mile, but Union established a lead at the mile, and won two-lengths. ! Youths' Double Stfulls, one mile — Akaroa 1, Union 2, Canterbury 3. Eight crews» competed, -but only five finished. Union ifanm'abAt 100 yards from home, when Akaroa spurted and won by a length. Maiden Fouri, one mile — Canterbury 1. Union 2, Star 3. Two s others' started. The race was a splendid struggle between the three- placed crews, Canterbury whining on thVrjost. Junior Double Sculls, pne mile — Union (Allen) 1, Lyttelton 2, Union 3.' Won- by fifteen lengths. < Senior Pairs, one mile and a-half— Union 1, Canterbury 2, Star 3. Another Canterbury crew also competed. Union won easily. by about four lengths, three lengths separating the second and third crews.

Youths' Fours, one mile — Canterbury 1, Union 2, Star' 3V* Three others competed. The race was hotly contested. Canterbury early established a slight lead, and though closely pressed by Union, won by about a length. Maiden Double Sculls, one mile — Christchurch Amateurs 1, Star 2, Lyttelton 3. , Won by a' length. Junior Fours-^-Union 1, Star 2, Lyttelton 3. -
