MEETING OF SHAREBROKERS.

A meeting of the sharebrokers was held last night at the Governor Bowen Hotel, according to advertisement.—Captain Skene was called to the chair, and explained that the object of the meeting was to try and see if the sharebrokers on the Thames could not form some sort of an association, in order to act with unanimity, and facilitate the transaction of their business. He thought that by doing something of the sort a great deal of unnecessary trouble might be saved, as, for instance, by meeting every day they might be able to save the trouble of sending money backwards and forwards they might interchange the amounts in place of having to send the cash botli backwards and forwards, and so save the exchange at present charged. He himself would prefer to sec a proper Exchange formed, both here and in Auckland.—The members of the Press then left the gentlemen present to discuss the matter, and after talking over affairs it was proposed by Mr J. 11. Salmon aud seconded by Mr J. H. White, “That a Brokers’ Association be formed, and that a committee of six be appointed to carry out the organisation of the same, such committee to consist of Messrs Skene, Fairbairn, Warraoll, Frater, J. H. White, and the mover.” —-The resolution was carried, and the meeting broke up.
