THE VOLUNTEER BAND AND THE LATE AMATEUR PERFORMANCE.

To the Editor of the Thanks Guardian. Sir,—-I have waited for some time to see some explanation given of the disagreeable contretemps, by iriuon tho Volunteer Band did not perform at the late amateur performance. In noticing tho nffair you said there was blame attachable somewhere, but where, you could not say. 1 was present in the house on the night in question, and heard what was said in front of the curtain by ft bandsman, and what was said subsequently by Mr Perrier. As tho latter person, in his speech, made statements which, if true, would argue that he had acted rightly in refusing to let the hand play upon the stago, I should like to hear whether or no ho was justified in what he said. There is something to be cleared up evidently somewhere, and I am surprised that the band, through one of their members, or generally, have not come forward to answer what was said with regard to them on Thursday night. I make this remark tne more especially as I heard several members of the Band stating on that occasion that they intended appealiug to the public with tlmir statement in tho matter, and I can only conclude, as they let the statements of this person, Mr Perrier, pass uncontradicted, that they had repented them of not having played iu the orchestra.—l am, &c., Volunteer.
