THE PROPOSED EDUCATION BILL.
to the Editor of the Thames Guardian. Sir, —Appended to your repo-t of last night’s debate on the Education Bill, I find the following words : “Our reporter, who was on the platform was of opinion that the ruling was correct, although the majority was not large.” Well, sir, with all due respect to your reporter’s opinion, I repeat my firm conviction that the show of hands d.dared, by a decided majority, in favor of Denominationalism. Had tho proposed division of the house been feasible, I have no doubt but that my decision would he proved the true oac. Besides, I have to remark that the Press outsteps its duty in giving any opinion in such a matter. To furnish the public with a faithful report of the proceedings, and nothing else, was your duty, unless 1 mistake. Hoping you will favor me with a small space in your valuable columns.— I am, &c., J. Golden. Shortlaud, July 19, 1872. ♦
