MINERS’ ACCIDENT RELIEF FUND.
A meeting of the Committee of the above fund was held last night, at the Governor Bowen Hotel Present—Captain Fraser (in the chair), Messrs Richards, Skene, Nicholls, Dewar, Goldsmith, and Day (secretary). It was resolved that Stuckey, who was in Hospital, was to receive the same amount from the fund as he had hitherto done, and that he 1»e permitted to leave the Hospital and return home again, and that Mahony, who was also in Hospital, should receive 30s per week, in place of 35s as heretofore. Mr Nicholls reported that a fatal accident had occurred to one of the subscribers to the fund in their mine, a man named Evans having been killed. Th Secretary read a letter from the manager of the North Devon G.M.C., stating that the company was not in a position at present to subscribe to the fu d. Mr Day also stated that the amount of money in Bank was £72 4s lid, and that the liabilities amounted to £l2, leaving a balance in band of £OO. Mr Dewar informed tbe Secretary’ that be would lodge some money to-morrow to tbe credit of tbe fund, being subscriptions collected !>v him.
