PROPOSED FORMATION OF A NEW INSURANCE COMPANY.
A proposal has been discussed amongst capitalists for some time past, having as its object the starting of a new insurance company’ for the colony on something of the same basis as the New Zealand Insurance Company. No doubt the success of the latter has served to stimulate capitalists to embark in the new venture. A meeting of promoters lia3 been held, when provisional directors were appointed to draw up a prospectus and receive applications for shares. We are informed that a large portion of the capital has already been subscribed, and another meeting will shortly’ be held, when permanent directors will be appointed, and other steps taken to place the company in working order. When the necessary preliminaries have been arranged, a prospectus will be issued, and any shares remaining will be offered to the public.— D. S. Cross.
