AMUSEMENTS.
ACADEMY OF MUSIC. Miss Aitken gave one of her highly pleasing entertainments at the Academy, last night, to but a meagre audience, which, however, seemed to make little difference so far' as the beauty of the pieces was concerned. Amongst other things she read “Maunsie Wauch’s first and last visit to the Play,” which was immensly relished by those present. On Saturday night Miss Aitken will give another entertainment at the Academy, when sho will be assisted by several of our local performers. Should the weather be anything like good, there will be a good house, as Miss Aitken is greatly appreciated by a large section of the coinmuuity despite the poor support accorded her hitherto, but it is hardly fair to expect people, more especially ladies, to wade through mud oh nights like the present. FRANK WESTON. A bumper house greeted the great and mighty Oil Prince, last night, at the Royal, and he certainly amused his audience besides inducing many to behove thoroughly in the Wizard Oil if we are to judge by the number of bottles which he disposed of during the evening. He is about to tako his departure from among us for a brief period, but hopes to have a dig down with us at some no very distant period of time.
