THAMES ENGINEER INSTRUCTION CLASSES.

The first of a series of classes for the instruction of the members of the corps in drawing, &c., was held last night at the room kindly provided for the purpose by Mr Rowe. This gentleman has given the corps the use of a large room over bis office in Davy-sfcreet, and not only given it free of charge, but he has also gone to a good deal of expense in fitting it up. A fine table has been fixed, which runs down both sides and across the end of the room, which will give accommodation to as many as 30 persons at a time, allowing ample room to each for the free use of his board and instiuments. Founs are also provided for the men to sit on, and in one corner a wash-hand-stand has been fixed, furnished with the necessa'y paraphernalia. Last night there were over a dozen members of the corps present, besides all the officers and those present, commenced their first course by printing, in which they were instructed by Captain Goldsmith aud Messrs Goodall and Lessong. The classes are to be held twice every week, on Mondays and Thuisdays, and will afford a pleasant means of combining amusement with the acquisition of knowledge during the long winter evenings which are now upon us, and throe is little doubt that these gatherings will be largely attended by the members of the Engineer Company, and become very popular. Models ‘of different sorts of letters for copying have been promised to the company, aud no doubt when the existence of the classes becomes more widely known, contributions of drawings, &c., will be sent in by those of the public who may wish to encourage the movement.
