AMUSEMENTS.

Academy of Music. —A ‘ fair audience nsspmbWl at this place of amusement last night, to listen to the excellent music provided for their entertainment. Everything went off excellently well, Madame Simonson beinsr particularly good in her selections for the evening. She sang ‘ Praise to the Lord,” in the second part, beautifully, and was rapturously applauded. In the “ Laughing Song ” and “Call Him Back and Kiss Him ” she had the audience thoroughly with her, and had to give “Not for Joe ” ns an encore to the last named song. Her “ Mad Scene from Lucia ” was excellent, and much admired. Mr Simonsen’s great effort was “Songs Without Words.” a musical gem of great beauty, and which lost nothing at Mr Simonsen’s hands. He announced that to-night will be the last night of their stay, and the performance will be for the benefit of Madame Simonsen, who certainly is deserving of a bumper house, which we trust she will have. Theatre Royal.— The minstrels last n’ght were also vevy fairly patronised in the front part of the house, the boxes not being well occupied. The entertainment was a very amusing one, of comae, being laughable in the extreme, especially on the part of Messrs Kelly and Barry O’Neil, who aie 'the life of the company. A very good programme is on the bills for to-night, and we have no doubt but that they will have a good house, as all who want a good laugh have only to go and listen to some of the eccentricities at the Royal.
