MINERS’ ACCIDENT RELIEF FUND.
To the Editor of the THAMES GUARDIAN. Sir, —I was very much pleased to see by your paper of to-day that the Caledonian G.M. Co. had given the handsome sum of £SO to the above *und, and I feel no doubt hut that other companies will very soon follow the example, and thus form a nucleus to work upon. This will no doubt he an inducement for miners to subscribe to the fund, which, according to the rules now before them, will confer such benefits upon the subscribers. I may say, sir, that I have been speaking to various tradesmen on the field, and have no doubt but what they will contribute to the fund, instead of being so frequently called upon for subscriptions when any casualty may occur. The entire success of the Association will depend in a great measure upon the mine managers, who, I trust, will take an active part in the matter, for it will be as much to their benefit as to that of the working miner.— I am, &0., A Miner. April 20.
