THE LAET ACCIDENT.
Touching the accident which happened on Saturday night, and which we gave an account of yesterday from Mrs Winepress's own version of the affair, we have now learned that her account, of it is entirely wrong. A getilhman, who was travelling iiuthe same trap, assures us that she fell off the step without the horse making any movement whatsoever ; and that, far irom the man driving straight away, he picked the woman up and helped her on the sitle walk, not knowing at the time that she was much hurt. There was no hoy at all on the ’lnis, so that the giving of the shilling and asking for change must have existed only in ln*r imagination. We think that this explanation is due to the cabman, who, had he done what the woman said, would have been open to severe censure. As it is, lie did his best for her, ami got no fare at all.
