WAIOTAHI DISTRICT BOARD.

There: was a special meeting of the Waiotahi Highway Board held at the Governor Bowen yesterday afternoon, at 4 p.tn. Present: Messrs Davies (chairman), Anthony, MoUoberts, and Dowden; Dean (secretary), Simpson (engineer).

Mr Davies said he had received a note

from the Superintendent this morning, requesting him (the chairman) to see him, and that lie had called this special meeting to lay before the Board the conversation lie bad had with the Superintendent. It had been a long conversation, extend-

ing over two and a-half liours, complaining very much, and insisted that the works to be carried out by the Board should be submitted to the Provincial Government, and that if lie had any immediate funds, they should be spent on the Thames, providing they (the Board) sent men to Tararu to break metal, and that the Superintendent was willing to assist them as much as lie could.

The Chairman hoped there would Lie no

ill-feeling between the Government and the Board, or between the Board Engineers and the Government Engineers. Mr Mcßoberts said that the question now before the Board was, what action is

the Board to take with regard to the coming meeting of the goldfields members.

The Board then went into a lengthy discussion on the time it takes (15 days) to get an application certified. Mr Anthony proposed that this meeting do nothing in the matter till the goldfields members meet in conference here.

This was seconded by Mr Mcßoberts, and carried unanimously.
