RIFLE SHOOTING FOR COMPANY PRIZES, BY THE THAMES RIFLE RANGERS.

On Saturday morning a mr.--.for of the crack shots belonging to the above company took place at the Pnrawai Potts. Officers present, Captain Williams, Lieutenant I’ea, Ensign Carnie, and 15 members. The prizes to he shot for were a splendid champion belt, value £3O, and £lO divided into eight- prizes, so that, therefore, it caused all present to take great interest in the result. The following are the rang; s fired from—2oo yards, standing; 300 yards, kneeling; 400,500, ami 000 yards, any position ; Government rules and regulations. Th.-- Hring throughout the day wss all that could he expected. Volunteer Fenton made the splendid snore of oft points. Owing to darkness coming on all could not complete tin ir firing; therefore, three have yet to do so this morning- at 10 o’clock at the same hulls. We will give the scores in full tomorrow morning.
