YACHT CLUB

A meeting of gentlemen interested in the formation of a Yacht Club in Auckland was held last evening at the Star Hotel. There was a good attendance, Air Waymouth occupying the chair.—The Chairman stated that during the last few days a great deal had been said in favour of starting a Yacht Club in Auckland, and be was sure, from the number of gentlemen (yacht-owners and others) who had expressed their willingness to join, that the club, if properly formed, would be a great success.—lt was proposed by Mr Henderson, jtin., seconded by Air Ellis, and carried unanimously, that a club be formed, to lie called the Auckland Yacht Club. —Proposed by Air IT. W. Henderson, and seconded by Air Porter, that the following gentlemen (who have signified their willingness) be the first members of the club—viz., Messrs W. Aitkcn, James Stoddart, G. von tier Ilcydc, J. S. Graham, John Stoddart, J. Waymouth, J. Dacre, T. Henderson, jnu., G. Jones, 11. Henderson, 11. J. Ellis, A. Porter, R. Brec, J. Graham, 11. Boylan, J. Marshall, and R. J. Morressy. Car ied.—Proposed by Mr T. Henderson avid seconded by Mr J. Graham, that Air M. J. Ellis 1)2 the Hon. Secretary pro tern, of the club. Carried. Proposed by Air J. Stoddart, and seconded by Mr 11. Henderson, that the following gentlemen be appointed a sub-committee to draw up rules, &c., for the proper working of the club, viz,, Messrs James Stoddart, J. AYaymontli, T. Henderson, A. Porter. Carried.—After a vote of thanks to the chairman, the meeting adjourned.
