MINING.

In our issue of yesterday, an error occurred in the notice of the Watchman Company. Instead of the low-level main adit being 30 feet in, it should he 180 feet. Golden Calf. —Liberal preparations to keep the mill going when it is once start c 1, and to crush expeditiously ami cheaply are being made by this company. The Morning Star machine, with its eleven stampers, has been rented at per wed;, and is to be connected with the mine by a tramway that will terminate in a large hopper, which is to discharge in to trucks that run along a tramway leading direct to the battery floor. As the trucks that travel in the c igcs of the shift will fit the new tramway the stuff will pass direct from the slopes to the battery. Between thirty and forty tons of stone are in paddock, and it is thought that in the course of ten days or so, when the tramway is finished, that there will he close upon a hundred tons to commence crushing upon. Very favourable reports reaches us from the mine. The No. 1 leader, upper level, shows good gold at both ends. Sunbeam. —We are glad to hear that since gold was first struck in the lower level the other day, it has been traced for fully forty feet along the lode,in the drive that is going in to connect with the winze from the old workings. This drive is on the foot Avail of the reef, out of which dish prospects at the rate of loz. to the ton can he readily obtained. The manager is driving for the winze, in order to provide good ventilation, as well as for the main shot of gold, and when once connection is effected, the splendid hack commanded by the low level will he cut up into stoping blocks, and sent to the mill. Good hope is entertained of tracing gold right along I lie lode to the winze.

Shamrock Company finished crushing at the Caledonian Machine yesterday, hut the result will not he known until to-day.

Weston’s Machine finished for the Yale of Avoea yesterday, and rc-com-menccd on a large parcel of stuff for the Alburnia tributers. The plate-show of amalgam indicates a return of 2oz. to the ton, or th reabouts.

Yale of Avoca. —Sixty-six tons of stone have been crushed, to a return of 87oz. of gold. Of this quantity, 2fioz. were obtained from 3(3 tons of No. 2 reef, and the balance from 24 tons of stone from the shot of gold in the main roef.
