THEATRE ROYAL.
Last night another good audience assembled at the Theatre Royal, to sec the far-famed Trio. I: A Day After the Wedding” was the opening piece, and was capitally played, Mrs B. N. Jones bringing down the house by her capital acting. Mrs Hill, as the wife, was very good indeed, and Messrs Jones and Joyce were “ all there." “ Kenilworth ” was brought on the stage very nicely indeed, and the singing, dancing, and acting were all excellent, but then, there is so little in it that the piece souiel ow seemed to hang fire. Miss Emclinc as Leicester was, we need hardly say, quite at home, and her acting was certainly quite up to the mark. Lord Raleigh was assigned to Miss Alice, and could not have been in better hands. She acts with such life, and throws her wliolo heart into the character she is playing, that she has made herself a great favourite witli her audiences. She sang “ I Love them both so well ” in such a manner that no denial would be taken, and slie had to come forward again. “ Love Amongst the Roses ” she gave, and we can only say that she is perfect in it. Miss Christine as Amy Robsart quite came up to our idea of the character, which she played remarkably well. Trcssilinn received ample justice at the bands of Miss Henrietta Grainger, being a part quite suitable to this young lady. The piece was beautifully dressed and well put on the stage, and it is only a pity that the stage is not a little larger, as it would be so much better for burlesque. Kenilworth will be repeated to-night, and the French Spy will be the introductory piece, in which Miss Christine will play flic rule of the Spy in the character of Mathildc-dc-Merie, Henri St. Alme, and Ilamet. This is one of her greatest impersonations, and one which will give her free scope for the exercise of her talents.
