MINING.

All Nations. —The specimens which have accumulated since Saturday last, and w hich amount to considerably over 2001 b., will lie crushed to-day, and the monthly clean up will take place to-morrow, wlnm a ’good return will result. We are unavoidably obliged to bold over a full rcpoil of the workings gomg on in the mine which will lie published to-morrow.

Inverness. — -The reef where in band on the north side of the slide which cut it in two, looks really well, much better than wc have yet seen it at this level. It. seems to bav j conic in quite solid and compact, and looks remarkably well.

Golden Calk. —The water lias all been taken out of the low level of the mine, and work lias been resumed in both. Nos. 1 and 2 lodes. The latter at this depth where worked on is smaller than it is above, but then it lias not been opened on to the same extent, and up above it was small near the shaft. The country, too, seems to lie changing, and they are getting, wc think, into an entirely new channel of ground. The easing on the banging wall is nice soft stuiL’ for a couple of feet, and outside that the country is much harder and solid. No gold has been taken out of the lode at this level as yet ; but they arc not yet underneath the snot where gold was got up above. The No. 2 lode, which is quite close to the bottom of the shaft, is, in appearance and strike, entirely different from tlio No. 1. Where first opened out on it is laying perfectly flat, and the size has not been ascertained, as the footwall is below t!io bottom of the drive. The stone is a dark bard-looking quartz, and does not look at first sight like a good goldbearing reef, though gold has been taken from it. We were shown the stone by the manager, and the gold was freely distributed throughout. It lias been followed for about 2d feet in a S.W. direction, and at this distance the course seems to have altered, and the lode is commencing to rise suddenly. It lias not been opened on enough yet to judge of the course it takes. In the other direction, that is to the X.E., the lode continues to lie fiat, and it broke, perhaps, a little better than in the other drive. At the .‘it2ft. level the No. 2 lode continues to look well, the same run of country being carried along. About half a box of nice specimens have been taken out since our last visit, making over a candle-box full now on band, and there are some very good ones amongst them. The water is now well under command, though there is a constant inflow from the No. 2 lease. CoIiRAN.—The melted return of the result of the crushing of 4b tons of stone from the Caliban Company's ground is 88os. 14dwt.

Sink to Risk Thiisute. —A crushing of 40 tons of stone for these tiibuters was finished yesterday, at the Tramway Battery, and resulted in the payable return of •K)oz. lOdwt. Ijgr. of melted gold. Mui.tcm in Pakvo.—A crushing of between 30 tons and 40 tons has just been pleted for this company, at Weston’s, and lias given the excellent return of ltiloz. lOdwt., or over 4oz. to the ton. Bendigo I NDKi’KNIiENT. —A crushing of about 130 tons has been finished for the tributers of this company at Weston’s. The return is not a very good one, being only about GOoz. of gold. The exact amount is not yet to hand. City ok London. —The reef has been cut at a distance of about 30 feet from the chamber. The lode is. fuiir feet wide, and looks well. No gold has been seen in the stone, but good prospects have been washed out of the stull taken on(. We will report further particulars to-day. Yn.cAN. —The men engaged in working on the claim yesterday came on to the reef on the surface some distance away from whore tlie workings are, and near to ti.e Cyclops ground, fjonie very nice gold was taken out from the top of the reef, which looks very well indeed where exposed. Manikak Battkky. —This battery is at present engaged with 1U head on the Black Angel stuff, 10 head for the Flying Cloud, 10 for one of Tookey’s Tributes, and ft tin the Company’s own tribute stone. PniDK ok Tokatea. — Last night 104 oz. of gold and half a ton of specimens came up from Coromandel from this claim. The specimens are very licli, and will he crushed immediately, when a good return is expected.
