lx regard to the diamond fields, the C ape Argun, of the 12st November last, says : “The diamonds known to have been shipped to England by the ‘ Cambrian,' from the Cap Town alone, art- v. hied about £80,00:»: of these, 8,841 Mor..v, valued at about. £40,073, were seat through the customs, and the remainder by other means.” It. further remarks;—“As another illustration of wonderful success at diamond fields, '.ve may mention the case of a German captain, named Bohi'inan, who some months ago had the good fortune to lose his ship, the ‘Elite,’ at Port Alfred. He went up to the fields, worked hard there for a time, and on Sunday' yvent home as a passenger in the 1 Cambrian,’ the fortunate possessor of £IO,OOO in drafts on Europe, and diamonds valued at £5,000 more still to bo disposed of.” Alany instances of extraordinary good luck arc related in the same P-T” I '-
