LOST IN THE BUSH.

The Ovens Spectator reports the following incident —A young man named Glen, on his way from the Stockyard Creek diggings, near Mansfield, toMyrtleford, where he was about to be married, met with a sad disappointment. In his company there travelled a man named Wye, who carried Glen’s swag. They slept at Chenery’s station, and started next day, but got bushed, and Wye went to look for a track. Glen, after waiting an hour or so, started in the direction taken by Wye, but missed him, and when Wye came back Glen was not to be found. Wye, who had found a track, thought that Glen had also found it, and pushed on, thinking that he would find Wye there before him, but he had not arrived. Wye then began to get alarmed not only for the safety of his mate but his own, as he was aware that Glen had a considerable sum of money about him, and he, Wye, was the last person seen in his company, and had, moreover, the man’s swag in his possession—circumstances which would place him in a very awkward position if Glen did not turn up. A search was prosecuted for several dayß without avail. Glen’s story—for he has since turned up in rather an exhausted condition—is that having waited over an hour for his comrade he considered him as lost, aud started

after him, but became""hopelessly bushed before night. All that night, he says, he walked and the next day and the next night, until late on the third day he struck the King River, and following it down, reached some friendly roof, where hia wants were attended to.
