MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS.

UNA G. Ar. CO. HALF YEARLY MEETING. Mr Gibbons was called to the chair. The Secretary read the minutes of the last meeting, which were confirmed. The following report was also read and adopted :—“ The}' stated that during the past six months 4,453 tons of quartz had been ciusbcd, giving a yield of 2,5040 z. lldwt. 12gr. of goid, or at Ihe rate of lldwt. (igr. to Hie ton ; and (lie directors bad payed £1,500 in dividends. The balance-sheet would show that there was a balance of over £IOO in band. Although the dividends have been smaller this halfyear than the last, there has been a far larger quantity of dead work done. The directors fully expect, from present prospects, that tho coining six months will be far more prosperous than tbe last lias been. The mine manager reported favourably on the state of the workings, and that though only lldwt. to the ton had been averaged, they bad managed to pay two dividends, and do a lot of dead work ; and be felt confident that in a short time the company would be in a very prosperous condition.” The following balance-sheet was read and adopted, having been properly audited :

Dr.: To creditors, £l6B 9s 10d. To capital 15,000 shares at £5, £75,000 ; to profit and loss new account, £173 lls fid. Total, £75,342 Is 4d.—Cr. :By debtors, £l3 10s ; by mining leaseholds, battery, tramway, cash in hand, &c., £75,328 lls 4d. Total, £75,342 Is 4d. —Creditors, £l6B 9s lCd ; debtors, £l3los. Profit and Loss account, Dr.: To various expenses, offices, interest, balance, &c., £0,7;>8 lid; to dividends, £1,500; to balance to new account, £1731156c1. Total, £1,673 lls 6d. Cr. : By net proceeds of gold, £6,756 8s 5d ; transfer fees, £1 2s fid ; by balance being net profit for half year, £1,306 2s 3d ; balance of old profit and loss account, £367 9s 3d. Total, £1,673 lls fid. Messrs Goldsworthy and Maclntyre then retired from the directorship, and were both unanimously re-elected. Air Nicoll, llic mine manager, stated that a tribute had been let in the Prince of Wales ground, as the directors considered it would be better to let it out, ns they could not at present work all their ground profitably. The tribute was let for twelve months on a sliding scale. Air Day proposed, and Air Smith seconded, a vote of thanks to the directors for their services during the past six months. Carried. Air Alclntyrk proposed that the directors should receive £1 Is per month, in place of 10s fid. This was seconded. An amendment was proposed to the effect that they get 5s instead of 10s fid. Another amendment was made to the effect that the honorarium remain as it is. The amendment was lost, and the motion was carried on a show of hands, but tbe Chairman thought that the directors ought not to be allowed to vote, but finally, on its being put again, tbe £1 Is was carried. Mr Alclntyre proposed a vote of thanks to Air Nicoll, whom he considered the best mine manager on the field, and was most assiduous in bis exertions on behalf of the company. Seconded by Air Cox, and carried unanimously. Air Nicoll returned thanks for the hearty manner in which the meeting had accorded him their thanks. lie would always try to do his best for the company. (Applause.) Air Alclntyre proposed a vote of thanks to Air Day. the legal manager, who was one of the best and steadiest legal managers on the field. Seconded and carried nem. con. Air Jackson proposed a vote of thanks tc> Air Gibbons, which was also carried unanimously. The meeting then broke up.
