GOLDMINING DISTRICTS BILL.

(From the X. Z. Gazette of the Kith inst.) Whereas by “The Gold Mining Districts Bill, 1871,” it is among other tilings enacted that it shall he lawful for the Governor from time to time, by proclamation in the Xeie Zealand Gazette , to constitute and appoint any district to be a Gold Mining District under the said Act, and to assign boundaries to such district, and to declare by what local name every such district shall be designated :

And by the said Act it is also enacted that, whenever the said Act shall be brought into operation over any land already subject to “ The Gold Fields Act, 18G<»,” “The Gold Fields Act Amendment Act, 18fi8,” aud “The Gold Fields Act Amendment Act, 18t>0,” tlie said Acts shall thereby be repealed, and thenceforth

cense to have any force or effect in respect of such land, except so far as relates to rights titles, and interests created and subsisting by virtue of such Gold Fields Acts, or any regulation made in pursuance thereof, and all such rights, titles, and interests shall remain and subsist as though the Act had not been brought into operation, and all questions arising in relation thereto shall be determined under the said Gold Fields Acts, and not under the said Act :

Now, therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in me vested by the said Acts, do hereby constitute the district particularly described in the schedule hereto to be a Gold Mining District under the said Act by the boundaries in the said schedule mentioned, and do declare that such district shall be designated by the name of “ The Haurak Gold Mining Districtprovided that this proclamation shall not take effect until tho twenty-second of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two : _ provided further that this proclamation is made subject to the provisions of the said Act in all respects. SCHEDULE. llauraki Gold Mixing District. All that block of land commencing on the North at Cape Colville, thence by the East Coast to Te Ilarakeke; thence by the watershed range between Ivenncd}' Bay and Wlningapoua to Te Ranga ; thence by the watershed range between tho East coast and llauraki Gulf, to the source of the Oinalm stream ; thence by that stream to tho south-eastern extremity of the Native Reserve ; thence by the eastern boundary of the said reserve to Ivakarimata ; thence by a public road and ditch to the river Waiwhakaurunga ; tlience by that river to the sea; thence by the sea coast to Taupo ; thence by survey lines to the summit of Eauhinc ; thence by a survey line to Te Tmnutuniu ; thence by survey lines to the horse road from Coromandel to the Manaia ; thence by that road to To Poka ; thence by the sea coast to the point of commencement.

Given under the hand of Ilis Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George, Governor and Commaudcr-in-Chief in and over her Majesty’s Colony of Now Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of tho same ; and issued under the seal of the said Colony, at Wellington, this second day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two. Whereas by “ The Definition of Districts Act, 1858,” it is among other things enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time, by proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, to divide the Colony into Counties, Hundreds, Parishes, or such other divisions as he may deem expedient, which shall have such limits, and shall bear and be known by such names or designations as in and by the proclamation constituting the same shall be prescribed, and also in like manner from time to time to alter and annul any such division, or the name or designation thereof, whether made or given under the authority of the said Act or prior to the passing thereof : And whereas by “The Gold Mining Districts Act, 1871,” it is among other enacted that the several sections of the said Act in reference to machine, business, or residence sites, numbered from fiftysix to sixty-four, both inclusive, shall not apply to the land comprised within the towns of Shortland and Graluimstown, and Tararu, as defined in the forth schedule to tho said Act: And whereas the schedule referred to directs that the said towns shall have such limits as shall be prescribed by the Governor in a proclamation to be issued under" The Definition of Districts Act, 1858,” as therein mentioned And whereas it is expedient that the limits of the said towns should be prescribed as aforesaid, in the manner hereinafter mentioned :

Now therefore, I, Sir George Fergnron Bowen, th Governor of the Colony of New Zealand in pursuance and exercise the power and authority vested in me by the hereinbefore in part recited Acts, and of eveiy other power and authority enabling me in that behalf do hereby proclaim and declare that the respective towns of Shorthand, Grahamstown, and Tararu shall have the limits set forth and prescribed in the first column of T. : Schedule hereto, and set opposite to the name of each such town. And in further pursuance and exercise of the power and authority aforesaid, 1 do hereby proclaim and declare that the said towns of Shorthand, Grahamstown, and Tararu shall bear and be known by the names or designations particularly mentioned in the second column of the said Schedule: Provided that this Proclamamation shall not take effect until the twenty-second day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two. Here follows the Schedule, containing a list of the limits of the towns of Grahamstown, Shorthand and Tararu, with the bearings and distance of each boundary line according to the Government map.
