THE MOVEMENTS OF TITOKOWARU.
The following important telegram has been received from Patea : —“ Titokowaru, with 32 men and about the same number of women and children, came out of the hush, for the purpose of settling on the coast at a place called Omuturangi. This place is about 30 miles from the Patea river. A tangi was held, and several speeches made. He said the reason why
he came out to the coast was because he was desirous of settling down peaceably. Whether the Government would allow
him to do so or not he could not say r . As far as lie was concerned he only desired to ho permitted to settle down peaceably.”
