GREVILLE k CO.'S (Reuter's Agents) EXPRESS
- Auckland, 2.10 p.m. Last night a man presented himself at the house of Mr Thomas Russell, and demanded admittance. The servants refused to admit him. Mr Russell was in town. The man then discharged a revolver into the house and decamped. He is unknown. 0 p.m. At the half-yearly meeting of the Red Queen Company to-day, the report of the directors and the balancesheet were adopted without discussion. The expenditure was £582 ; balance in hank, £66. At a meeting of the Executive today, it was decided to pay Harbour Board £25,000. Railway to he handed over to the General Government. Mr Ormond and Mr Gillies proceed to Riverhcad on Wednesday. In the Supreme Court to-day, the action relative to Vickery’s crushing machine was partly heard.
