THAMES WATER SUPPLY.—DEPUTATION.
Mu C. O'Neill, M.11.E., and Mr Wannoll, J.P., waited on the Minister for Public "Works (Mr Ormond) yesterday, in reference to the water supply at the Thames. Mr O'Neill pointed out to Mr Ormond the urgent necessity that existed for at once, initiating (lie necessary works for the supply of water on the goldfield. Mr Wannoll who had just come up from Graliamstown, explained that the want of water, occasioned by the long-continued drought, had had the effect of preventing all the batteries on the field from working up to power, thereby seriously affecting the yield of gold, and the beneficial employment of labour. Mr Ormond expressed himself as being fully aware of the great importance of providing an adequate wafer supply for the Timon-s. and intimated that lie would proceed to Granamstowi. to-day. accompanied by Mr Carrutiiers. when he would go into the subject molt fully.— Herald, January lb.
