ACADEMY OF MUSIC.
“ li.-Treated II Tkovatork ” was produced last night to a smaller bouse than wc bad anticipated. Miss Stephenson and Mr Burford did not appear, and their absence was apologised for by Air Hydes, who said it was no fault of his, and’that they had left him most unjustifiably. Some people might think they bad not been paid, but this was not the case. They had left him without fulfilling their engagement, and were in bis debt. He assured the audience that be would exert every nerve of bis body and mind to give satisfaction, and lie would exert himself to the utmost to produce burlesques which should be chaste and appropriate, and have no “Sydney Jllasli” about them. Miss Anstead and Air Glover very ably supplied the places at last night’s entertainment at a moment’s notice, and in all respects, except that there was not a full house, the performances were a success, and the curtain fell amidst considerable applause. A very attractive programme is announced for to-night, and wo hope to see a full house.
