THE LATE ORATORIO.

To the Editor of the THAMES GUARDIAN. Sir, —On my return to tlic Thames yesterday, for the first time since the Christmas holidays, I was surprised to hear my name made use of in connection with the accounts of the late oratorio held in the new church, in aid of the building fund of the said church. This rather startled me, as I was one of those elected at the last meeting of the committee, held before the holidays to audit the accounts. Upon making enquiry, I discovered in one of the local papers my name apnended to a paragraph, setting forth the various items of expenditure of the said oratorio, as having audited them. How my name came to be made use of in such a manner, is past my comprehension, as 1 have never seen the accounts referred to since the time of iny election. How, Mr Editor, may I venture to ask through the medium of your numerously circulated paper from those who may be conversant with the intricacies of the affairs, how, and by whose autnority, and by whose pen, came my name to be subscribed one of the auditors? —I am, &c., G. Iv. Alexander.
