THE GOVERNORSHIP OF NEW SOUTH WALES.
We are informed that it is probable Lord Behnore will leave the colony for England some time in March next, by the Sobraon ; and if this should he the case, there will probably be an interregnum- of some months, and an acting-Governorwill have to be appointed. It appears that Lord Kimberly, Secretary, for the colonies, has conveyed a request to Sir Hercules Robinson, from the Lords of the Treasury, that he should remain in Ceylon a short time longer, in order that certain reforms recently introduced in the currency of the island should be thoroughly carried out. Mr W. 11. Gregor}*, the present member for Galway in the House of Commons, has been appointed to succeed Sir Hercules ; but it is stated that he will not leave England till about the middle of next year. Should it be necessary to have an acting Governor between the departure of Lord Belmore and the arrival of Sir Hercules Robinson, the duties will devolve upon the gentleman who happens to fill the office of Chief Justice at the time.
