OHINEMURI.

Owing to the very heavy rain of yesterday, most of the sports had to be put off, and it is generally understood that they stand postponed till Monday next, New Year’s Day. Some of the races were run, and a capital war dance was given by the natives in spite of the contrary elements. There were a large number of ladies who were unable to cross the river on such a day, -and, of course, they were very much disappointed. Nearly all the principal natives of the district mustered with numerous followers, and were very much disappointed at the pakehas not being able to enjoy the fun provided for them. The steamer only came up as far as Cashell’s to-day, but can, on any future occasion, come some six or seven miles further up.—[Correspondent.]
