THE THAMES SCOTTISH CONCERT.

Last night a most successful concert came off at the Academy of Music, given by the Thames Scottish Volunteers, assisted by several lady and gentlemen amateurs, for the benefit of the Mechanics’ Institute. The house was crowded in all parts, and the funds of the will benefit considerably by the entertainment. The programme was gone through very successfully, and at the termination Mr Bain, the Secretary of the TALI., came forward and thanked the performers heartily for their kindness. Wc were pleased to notice that the “no-smoking” clause was strictly adhered to, . not a single pipe being lighted in the Thcatic. during the evening. All the arrangements were complete, and the promoters deserve great credit for their efforts in support of an institution which . has already done a great deal of good in a quiet way on the field, and which cannot be too highly estimated by all lovers of progress and education.
