WAIOTAHI DISTRICT BOARD.

A meeting of the above Board was hold yesterday, at Mr Simpson’s office, Owenstreet. —Messrs Mcßoberts and Bruce presented a petition from tlie inhabitants of Grahamstowu, praying the Board to take steps for the abatement of the smoke nuisance.—lt was resolved that the petitions should he forwarded to Mr Beveridge, as solicitor to the Board, for presen tation to the Provincial Council, with - prayer from the Board that such powers might be granted to the Board as would enable them to deal with the question.— Mr Simpson, engineer, read a report prepared by him for transmission to the Goldfields Secretary, giving the estimated cost of the works necessary to provide for the drainage and traffic of the town. —It was resolved that the report should be forwarded to the Goldfields Secretary.
