PRESBYTERY.

A pro. re nata meeting of the members of Hie Auckland Presbytery was held on Wednesday morning in St. Andrew’s Church, Symonds-slreet. The Rev. T. Nome officiated as Moderator, and the liov. Mr. Macnicol as clerk.—The sederunt having been opened with prayer, the Rev. Mr. Cosh made an application to the Presbytery of Auckland to be permitted to join the Synod of Otago, which sits in January next.—The Moderator said he would be very sorry to miss Mr Cosh from the Presbytery, but he saw no objection to granting the certificate.—Mr Smart wished to know whether there was any necessity for the Rev. Mr Cosh having his name taken off the Auckland roll, as he should very much regret losing the valuable services of so able a minister.—After a brief discussion the application of Mr Cosh was granted.—Mr Smart then drew the attention to the Educational Bill before the Provincial Council. He said there was very little time to be lost, and lie thought the Synodal. Committee should take the subject into its consideration.—lt was decided that the Education Committee should take the subject into its consideration that afternoon.—The meeting then closed by the Moderator giving the benediction.—D.
