In our telegraph news of yesterday wo published the result of the petition to the Government respecting the release of Francis limes. We now publish therejily in full to the Bishop of Auckland : “Colonial Secretary’s ‘office (Judicial Branch), Wellington, December 7, 1871. My Lord, —I have the honour to inform you, in reply to the petition signed by your Lordship and others resident in Auckland, praying his Excellency the Governor to remit the unexpired portion of the sentence of the prisoner Francis Inncs, that, after communicating with his Honor the Chief Justice on the subject, the Government is unable to comply with the prayer of the petition.—l have the honour to be, my Lord, your Lordship’s most obedient servant, W. Gisborne.— The Right Rev. the Lord Bishop of Auckland, Bishopscourt.
