COURT COROMANDEL 5260, A.O.F.
We note with pleasure the inauguration of a Court of the above popular institution of the Ancient Order of Foresters, for which Coromandel presents a wide sphere of usefulness. Hitherto the residence of a medical man on this goldfield has been intermittent, and his income precarious, an evil which this society will go far to remove, and cases requiring promptsurgical aid will no longer be imperilled by removal to Auckland or Grahamstown. On Saturday last a deputation of the principal officers of Court Pride of Parnel 4409, arrived per steamer ‘Challenger’ from Grahamstown, and about 8 p.m. the proceedings conmienced. Brother Corns P.C.R taking the chair, supported in the vice-chair by Brother Cheshire, P.C.R. and Brother Yeale, secretary, the other offices were respectively filled by Bros. Carem, G. Smith, J. 11. Smith, and A. Pulman, formally declared Court Coromandel, No. 526C£ A.0.F., open for initiation of candidates and transaction of business generally. Some thirty gentlemen having been initiated, the following Brothers were then elected, installed to the following offices : —Bro. .T. 11. Smith of Court 4409, tobeC.R., Bro.Nicholls, S.C.R. Bro. Carem, of Court 4409, Secretary, Bro. O’Toole Treasurer, Bro. Millington S.W., Bro. Hart J.W., Bro. Montgomery 5.8., Bro. Rat cliff c J.B. After which the

'WeTearn that owing to file number of propositions for membership, the society contemplate erecting a commodious Hall for accommodating a large number oLmembejs,'" We heartily wish the society every -success.—(Communicated).
