NEW COALFIELD NEAR MIRANDA.

RVi; have been shown some fine specimens Ilf coal, which were brought over to GraBunstown yesterday, by Mr Foot, from ■c Manamoru Creek, neai the -Miranda. Mir Foot’s farm is called Bridgewater farm, B[ul is situated within about eight miles Bom the sea. He some time since found Hpnl on his property, and has been followM»ig it up, prospecting and sinking holes on Jaßic run for two miles and a half, which instance he has proved it to run. The tested all along has, he informs us, Ball burnt well. He has now cemo pn to an immense body of coal, He extent of which is at present Hfnknown, and has brought over more than Htlf a ton with him to exhibit. Some Brge blocks are to be seen at Mr W il®iam’s office, Brown-street, and several Bags full at Mr Unthank’s, in CoromandelHfereet. We were informed that some of it Hried yesterday in town proved to be very wood. The land is situated next to the Superintendent’s property, where we heard libf the coal a short time ago. Should this Burn out as well as it at present promises Ito do, the value of the find to this field Krould be incalculable, as with a failing Supply from the Bay of Islands, we Khali soon require some other coalfield. Hflie coal brought over is well worth an inspection, and we trust that the supply (fill turn out to be as good as reported. Captain Hutton, it will be remembered, reported very favorably of this district ionic time since as regards the presence >f coal, and said that large deposits might be looked for.
