The following Goldmining Companies, in process of winding-up, will be brought before the District Court Judge, by the Official Agent, to have their schedules and list of contributors and contributories confirmed, viz. : Scotchman’s United, Queen Victoria, Lord Palmerston, Great Eastern, Duke of Kent, Great Republic, Star of Karaka, Proof Positive, Ohio and La Plata. A subscription list has o]>cned at Captain Butt’s American Hotel, Shorthand, and the Scotia Hotel, Grahamstown, in aid of the widow and orphans of Robert Simpson, late steward of lodge of Odd 1* ellows. Tamaki, killed on 9th instant by boiler explosion. We observed that the foundation is now being laid for a new store at the corner of Albert and Pollen-street, and, throughout the district, new buildings are springing up in every direction. Tin's is one of the most unmistakable signs that people have confidence in the future of the Thames, and inclined to make permanent investments here.
