OHINEMURI.
(from our own correspondent) . November 11. Dr. Poi.len left for Shortland yesterday. Mr Mnckny intended to start for Mataora this morning, but was unable to go. The weather for the last few days has been remarkably fine, hut is now the reverse, heavy showers being the order of the day. The wind is blowing a regular gale from about the S.E.. ami it is bitterly cold. If the weather ele .Mr Mackay will start to-morrow. Ilis object is to arrange matters with the natives on tho East Const. No further difficulty need be anticipated, ns the natives, although still opposed to the Government, will not likely interfere with Mr Mackay. The lino will pass byway of Whangamata. Captain Fraser, R.M., and A. J. Allom, Esq., of Shortland, have arrived cn route for Tauranga. This anniversary of the birth of the Prince of Wales will he remembered ns a red letter day in the Ohincrnuri calendar. While the people of the Thames were keeping high holiday, Mr Mackay was‘doing the country good service. The wedge has been entered, and the opening of this district cauuot now be very far oif.
