POLICE COURT.— Saturday.

Before W. Fraser, Esq., R.M. Drunkenness. John Mayher was charged with being drunk and disorderly in Owen-street. The accused, who was on bail, did not appear, and the amount of his recognizance was ordered to be forfeited. Creating a Nuisance.— Jeremiah Quinlan was charged with creating a nuisance by emptying a closet at the rear of the Long Drive Hotel during the prohibited hours. The defendant pleaded guilty, and Baid it was the first time be bad been before the Court, nor was he aware of the time. The defendant was fined 5s and costs, or in default of payment 48 hours’ imprisonment. The R.M. pointed out that under the Municipal Police Act the defendant had rendered himself liable to a penalty of £lO, or three months’ hard labor.—William Bohbett, charged with neglecting to clean his premises in Rolleston street, pleaded guilty, and was fined 10s and costs.—Dugal Smith, charged with leaving offensive matter at the foot of Abraham-street. was fined 5s and costs, with the customary alternative in case of non-payment. Vagrant Horse. William Dibble pleaded guilty to the charge of allowing his horse to wander at large in Mackaystreet, and was fined 2s. Gd. or 24 hours' imprisonment. Furious Driving. —J. Rountree,charged with furiously driving a horse in Abrahamstreet on the 24th instant, did not appear. Mr Bullen said that the defendant was riding one horse and driving another. The summons was served upon him personally. The R.M. ordered a warrant to be issued for defendant’s apprehedsion.
