AMUSEMENTS.

Academy of Music. —Miss Colville took her beuefit here last evening. The pieces selected were the amusing comediettae. entitled the “ Happy Pair ” and the familiar drama of the “Lancashire Lass.” The house was well filled, and the staffs were literally crammed. Miss Colville made a clever hit in selecting the “Happy Pair ”as a piece for her benefit. As Mrs Honeyton she was immensely successful, and we have no reason to change onr often expressed opinion that Miss Colville is one of the best and most popular actresses in modern drama that we have seen in the colonies. The careful manner in which all her characters are rendered, and this coupled with a graceful and fascinating appearance always merit the applause of the theatre-going public. Mr Hoskins as Honeyton, was in the truo sense of the word, quite at home, and as usual in many instances, brought down the house. We trust we shall have the pleasure of seeing these performers at the Thames again ere long. The Lancashire Lass went of with as much eclat as ever, and if possible was better produced last night than on previous occasions. Theatre Royal. There was no performance at this theatre last night, but great preparations are being made for this evening, when the celebrated domestic drama of “ Susan Hopley,” illustrative of the vicissitudes of a servant girl’s life, will be played ; to be followed by the burlesque of the “ Enchanted Isle.”
