DIOCESAN SYNOD.
The Diocesan Synod held its second sitting for this session in the Cathedral Library on Tuesday. A large number of Trust Reports were brought up and laid on the tabic of the House. .A considerable number of motions were agreed to. The one carried on the motion of Dr. Nicholson, relative to the proceedings at the late election of Synqdsmen at Onehunga, from various whispers and the remarks .given utterance to during the debate upon the motion, promises to be fruitful of curious revelations. We
hope the committee will bring up a written report, giving a full and fair digest of all the information which they may acquire upon the subject,' however disagreeable. Amongst the notices of motion given by different members to be 1 discussed on a future day is one which Mr. Pierce tabled just before the adjournment of the Synod. It will be remembered that some time ago the Primitive Methodists in this citystarted a monthly periodical in connection with their body. At the last meeting of the Auckland Presbytry the subject of having a-periodical to advocate the cause of the Church was agreed upon, and the object of Mr. Pierce’s motion was to have a similar organ established; in connection with the English Church. We are glad to see a spirit of this kind being fostered amongst the Churches. Other sections of the Church might also follow the good exampie thus shown. We trust Mr. Pierce’s motion when it comes on for discussion will be agreed to, and that such an amount of encouragement will be given to the undertaking as will ensure success.— Cross _
