MEETING OF SHAREBROKERS. GEORGE SPRAT COMMITTED FOR* TRIAL. A LARGELY attended meeting of sharebrokers was held on Saturday to consider the new bill before Parliament. It was suggested that in clause 2 of the bill that unincorporated companies as well as corporated, should be included ; and in clause 6, that sharebrokers would not be permitted to buy or sell shares on their own account, except through another broker; also to render the clause requiring the account of the sale optional to the purchaser; to. compel the regulation of transfers within thirty days; to permit brokers to witness transfers, and to compel private selleis to pay a fee of five shillings in order to get transfer witnessed by a justice of the peace or a broker. Several of the other clauses were discussed, and it was resolved to send a draft cf the alterations to his Honor the Superintendent to lay before the House. George Spray, of Grahamstown, was committed for trial on the charge of perjury in the Hazelbank case. He made no defence.
