♦ DEATH OF MRS. D. SHEEHAN. MEETING OF THE WHAU G.M.C. LATEST NEWS FROM WELLINGTON. TAE HAZELBANK CASE. Auckland, October 19, 9 p.m. The wife of Mr. David Sheehan died suddenly at her residence this morning. There was a large attendance at the Whau Gold Mining Company’s meeting. The reports were read and adopted, and the following gentlemen were elected as directors :—Messrs. J. M. Clark, R. H. Stevenson, Peacock, Griffith, and Sommerville. After a long hearing at the Police Court the case of George Spray, who was charge*! with perjury, has been adjourned. The s.s. Taranaki arrived in the Manukau to-day. She brings later Southern news, but very little of importance. Wellington, October 12. Mr. Creighton moved the second reading of the Permissive Bill, to which Messrs. Archibald Clark and John Williamson gave a qualified support. Mr Fox moved an adjournment on the Imprisonment for Debt Abolition Bill. The Qualification Electors’ Bill lias been read a second time.
