POETRY. + TO FLORENCE C I pry thee thee, dearest, frown not thus When I my love declare ; Turu not away thy beauteous face, For heaven’s revealed there. Oh ! chide me not; Oh ! speak not so, Call not my love a crime. To see tlicc is to turn my thoughts From earth to things divine. As in the Church shrine T vidw The pictured Virgin there, My thoughts are wrapped in ectasy, And soar to heaven in prayer. E’en so as I view thee, Florric, My thoughts from earth are free : Yes, ves, 1 worship, heaven dear girl, As thus I gaze on thee.
